Welcome to the ACCA home page!

We are a consortium of 15 private liberal arts colleges, founded in 1966 to promote cooperation in education and training in the sciences. You can find out more about us and our members by clicking on the topics on the left.

 

ATTENTION ALL ACCA MEMBERS!

  • The schedules for the Fall 2009 Cooperative Courses in Chemistry and Biology will be posted at Seminar Agendas.

The Fall Biology course is Charles Darwin and His Legacy – A  Bicentennial Celebration, coordinated by Bill Bromer (University of St. Francis) and Al Martin (Benedictine University).

The Fall Chemistry course is Spectroscopy, coordinated by Salim Diab of the University of St. Francis and Kate Martin of McCrone Associates.   The series will run from September 15 through November 17 (Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00) and will be held at McCrone Associates in Westmont.

             The offerings in the College Botany Program with Morton Arboretum are           listed under Morton Arboretum.   

             ***Graduate Credit available for Spectroscopy***                    Olivet Nazarene University will again be offering graduate credit to anyone who already has a bachelor’s degree, provided he/she has not previously received credit during one of the years when the title was the same.  Students may receive graduate credit by attending any eight of the lectures, and writing a summary of each of the ones attended.  Although anyone is welcome to attend one or more sessions without taking the series for graduate credit, anyone wanting graduate credit through ONU should contact Dr. Douglas Armstrong at: darmstrg@olivet.edu (or by phone:  815/939-5393).

  • There will be a 2009 Computer Science seminar.  The topic is scheduled to be “Computer and Network Security.”

  • The guidelines and student instructions for the Student Symposium are posted.  The 2010 Student Symposium will be held on April 10, 2010 at Lewis University.
  • The 2009 ACCA Annual Dinner Meeting will take place on Monday, October 5, 2009, at Benedictine University.  You will receive more specific information closer to the event, but you will want to reserve the date.
  • The fifth annual ACCA Pedagogy Symposium will be held at Lewis University on Saturday, October 17, 2009.   For information please contact acca@lewisu.edu .  To register please use http://cs.lewisu.edu/accaped

Lewis University will be hosting the Fall 2009 ACCA Scholarship of Pedagogy Symposium.

 

The date will be Saturday, October 17, 2009.

 

Most sessions will be approximately 20 minutes, as in the past; but provision may be made for a double session.

 

The formal call for papers will be issued April 21. 

 

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Steven Meyers, Department of Psychology, Roosevelt University who is the Illinois Professor of the Year selected by Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
